1 - 7 A WEEK OF DOING STUFF!

So the end of the first week!  I managed to do exercise everyday!  .... Although, the weekend and monday was a bit half hearted, Monday there was no way I was waking up early and it ended up with my boyfriend sitting on the couch watching my pathetic attempts at sit ups being "motivational"!.

So after Tuesday doing my HIIT routine day one.

Wednesday, I headed off to Clapham for a Jazz class with an old dancing friend.  It was great, it made me feel like one of those fat kids in class who couldn't touch their toes, but it was great fun.  The teacher definately heard us laughing about how stiff and unfit we were beofre class, so spent the first 20minutes making us jump and crunch continuously.  This cripped my stomache for the week!

We accidentally timed it so that we finished (well, after a drink) at the same time as the Chelsea football game and ended up awkwardly commuting home in spandex pants with a bunch of drunk football hooligans.

Thursday and Friday were back at the gym, another HIIT day and a wieght ttraining day (I'll post my different routines later).  It's been nicce getting up early and hitting (haha punny) the gym before work, makes it feel like you aren't just going to work and coming home to go to sleep.  By the time I've gotten to work, I've already been awake for 3 hours!

Saturday, Valentines and also our anniversary.  The BF had organised a brilliant suprise day packed full of eating and wandering.  The exercise I'm counting was the self guided street art tour around East London - While not being full on, we did end up walking for about 4 hours.  Which I think is descent.

Sunday - Finally the $50 bike I bought to cycle to work .... eventually, is in working order, so we took it for a spin.  Although, it turns out there are still a few bus in it (minor things like the rear tyre won't stay straight!) so it definately wasn't that far!

So all up, it's going ok.  Mondays are a struggle - I haven't managed to get up two Mondays in a row now (this is why this ot of 21days starts on a Tuesday) and with how busy things are at work at the moment there isn't really time to catch up after work.

GO DAY

Go day!  First day today off the exercise every day month .... Needs a catchier title.

Had a wee set back - couldn't find my gym membership which may be indicative of how often I've gone to the gym lately!

I've decided to try out a HIIT type of work out (find out more about HIIT here.   http://www.shape.com/fitness/workouts/8-benefits-high-intensity-interval-training-hiit  ) with a different routine every day, so I'll be lemma likely to skip one ... Hopefully!  Thought I'd throw in a weight training day on the weekend and have swimming laps for days when I hurt.  This may be tomorrow!

So day one I did:

30 second intervals of:
High kicks ( touching toes)

Back lunges

Squats with shoulder press (5kg weights in hand)

Skier swings (5kg weights).

Mountain climbers

A minute break in which I lie on the floor gasping
And repeat
And repeat

Then 3x10 dips on the bench... Because I'm good at them and they make me feel good :)

Think I may also accidentally be a bit eco friendly doing this - not heading to the shower sleepy and straight out of bed, I showered in 1/3 of the usual time.  Civilised.

THE IDEA

The last few years of my life has been filled with change - I've quit my fantastic professional job (twice) to go traveling and to move to, quite literally, the other side of the world.

This is now my third county of residence in two years and im finding it kind of hard to stop moving, or changing and settle down for a bit.  So, I've decided to attempt to harness this new found itchiness for "flux" and try to use it to break my bad at home habits and try to form new ones.

After doing some research about breaking and forming habits a bit of a vague plan has emerged for the year:
- Every month I will spend the first 10 days assessing and deciding wh at change to make
- I'll work on this change for 21 days, no exceptions, in the hope that this 21 days will form a new normal habit

And, in a years time, fingers crossed, I'll have made 12 big changes in manageable bite size chunks - the idea being that I can focus fully on one habit at a time.

First one starts on the 10th of February.  I'll be going to the gym\ working out every day before work.  Wish me luck!
